Question 7   Describe the difference between a thread and a process

A process is an image of a program which is being executed in the system memory. a program may contain multiple processes. a process may contain at least one or more threads. threads are the smallest unit of execution in a process. multiple threads which are executed in a process can access the process global variables and resources



Question 8   What is cts

A .net program can be written in multiple languages like c#,vb.net etc. it is necessary to have compatibility in types while communicating between programs/assemblies written in any of thease languages.common type system (cts) specifies the standards for type definitions across .net languages. for example an int32 in c# is equivalent to an integer in vb.net.




Question 9   What is wpf

Windows presentation foundation is known as wpf. wpf was introduced in .net framework 3.0.
wpf is a framework to create and display graphical user interfaces in windows. wpf uses directx instead of graphics device interface (gdi). it uses extensible application markup language (xaml) for developing ui components



Question 10   What is xaml

Xmal stands for extensible application markup language.
it is used as a markup language in wpf to design ui. there are four different versions of xaml.

1) wpf version which is introduced with .net framework 3.0
2) silverlight 3 version
3) silverlight 4 version
4) windows 8 xaml/jupiter version



Question 11   What is a .net assembly

Assemblies are known as the building blocks or the fundamental parts of a .net application.
an assembly can be an exe (process assembly) or a dll (library assembly). they are the basic or the smallest unit of deployment.

there are two kinds of assemblies - private assembly, public or shared assembly



Question 12   What is namespace

A namespace is a logical grouping of related classes which helps to distinguish classes with same name. for example system.io namespace contains a set of related classes which are useful to perform io operations
